Hello, I'm Nancy, the heart behind Nana's Hearth & Crumb.

I am a proud mother of two and Nana to five wonderful grandchildren, all of whom live nearby and bring joy to my life every day. Before beginning this baking journey, I proudly served our country as a U.S. Army UH-1 "Huey" Helicopter Crew Chief. Following my military service, I built a 43-year career in the marine service industry.

A year ago, I decided to try something completely different—making sourdough bread.

What started as curiosity quickly became a passion. Like every baker, I experienced plenty of failures along the way. There were loaves that didn't rise, recipes that needed refining, and lessons learned with every bake. But there were also beautiful successes that made all the effort worthwhile.

Over the past year, I've dedicated myself to learning the art and science of sourdough, developing recipes, and perfecting techniques. What I discovered was much more than baking bread—I found my Zen place. The simple process of mixing, folding, fermenting, and baking brings a sense of peace and fulfillment that I never expected.

As I prepare to retire and begin a new chapter in life, I'm excited to turn this passion into something I can share with others. Nana's Hearth & Crumb is truly a family-inspired dream.

My five grandchildren were the inspiration behind our cookie creations. Their excitement, curiosity, and love for sweet treats sparked the idea to develop cookies that are both delicious and memorable. My daughter has been an invaluable part of this journey, lending her creativity to flavor development, recipe ideas, and the overall design and presentation of our products.

Family contributions can be found in every loaf we bake. The honey used in our breads comes from my son's apiary, providing a local touch and natural sweetness that makes our recipes unique. Our daughter-in-law crafts the pure vanilla we use in our baked goods, adding another special family ingredient to every batch.

What began as a personal challenge to master sourdough has grown into a family-centered business built on craftsmanship, quality ingredients, and love. Every loaf of bread and every cookie represents the combined talents, support, and encouragement of the people I cherish most.

My goal is simple: to provide handcrafted breads and treats made with care, quality ingredients, and a touch of Nana's love for friends, neighbors, and our local community.
